I have been teaching at Boulder High since 2013 and in the Boulder Valley School District since 1997. My current role is twofold: I teach for half of the day at Boulder High and serve as BVSD’s Secondary English Language Arts Coordinator for the second half. My coordinator role primarily involves running and managing a yearlong PD program for LA teachers across the district. I am professionally licensed in both English Language Arts and Elementary Education and maintain National Board Certification. To date, I have taught at every grade level from third through tenth.
At the state level, I am a member of the Educator Leader Cadre and work with the Colorado Department of Education. The purpose of this work is to share best practices in the implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards with teachers across the state. At the national level, I work with PARCC on test item review and with the Teaching Channel to create professional development modules for teachers.
I am a product of Boulder Valley Schools and went to that other high school across town. I did my undergraduate work in English Literature at Pomona College where I also played basketball for (fun fact) Gregg Popovich who is the current head coach of the San Antonio Spurs. Teaching at Boulder High School is a dream job for me, and I am very grateful to be able to come to work here each day.
