Richard Trinkner TEACHER

Social Studies      

For more than 25 years Mr. Trinkner has been teaching IB and AP social studies. Mr. Trinkner graduated with a bachelor's degree in history from Pomona College in 1985, and a master's degree in education from Stanford University in 1986. He holds national certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In 2008, he was named Colorado economics teacher of the year by the Colorado Council for Economics Education. In 2014 he was awarded the Mary Taylor award, which recognizes excellence in the classroom at BHS. He has served as a bilingual exam reader for the International Baccalaureate in history and Theory of Knowledge. Since 2012, he has served as an exam reader in AP Macroeconomics for the College Board, and since 2017 he has served as an AP Consultant, leading workshops across the U.S. to help teachers improve their skills in teaching AP Economics. In his personal life, Mr. Trinkner enjoys road cycling, mountaineering, homebrewing, scuba diving, cooking, and reading. His lives with his wife in Boulder; their two sons graduated from BHS in 2010 and 2013.
