Boulder High Athletic Update - As of May 27, 2020

Currently, we are working with evolving policies and restrictions regarding COVID-19/CDC guidelines, but here is some up-to-date information regarding athletics for our summer months:

  1. Health/Safety and In-Person Contact: As you may know, Boulder High is a 5A high school that competes in the CHSAA Front Range League. High school athletics, under normal circumstances, are year-round activities due to multiple facets like training, group workouts and open gyms, etc. This year we are all adjusting to COVID-19/CDC guidelines, and after many conversations with school and community leadership, Boulder Valley will not conduct, host, or otherwise endorse activities or athletics requiring in-person contact through June 30. In mid-June, an assessment of current community health conditions will be reviewed to determine the status for July.  
  2. Tryouts for Pom: In BVSD, tryouts for any sport are to be conducted in person. As a result, we will not have Dance/Poms or Cheer tryouts until after we return to school.
  3. Communication with Head Coach: Although we are not able to meet with you in person, many of our programs are having optional google meetings and are recommending healthy workouts. It is important that you reach out to your program's head coach (listed below) as soon as possible to introduce yourself. They will keep you informed of any future potential virtual meetings and provide updates on information regarding your particular sport.
  4. Summer Sports Conditioning Program: As you know during the summer at BHS we normally have a vigorous off season weights program, that the entire athletic program endorses and participates in.  This year we want to be in shape when the time comes and we are given return to participate all clear from the county health department and school district.  The athletic department has hired Coach Bishop as our strength and conditioning coach for this summer and he has designed a virtual workout program to get the Panthers ready for the upcoming seasons. Virtual workouts will begin on June 1, 2020 and are open to all student-athletes including incoming Freshman and outgoing Seniors.  All the details can be found on the BHS Sports Conditioning Website.
