Dress
We expect that graduates take the opportunity to celebrate this important achievement by dressing appropriately. Students should wear clothes and shoes that are both comfortable and appropriate, in line with a dress code that aims to show respect for the graduation ceremony. Graduates are allowed to decorate their cap to display their unique personality, as long as the decorations are appropriate, respectful, and don’t distract from the ceremony.
Tassel: The tassel should be worn over the right temple, just to the right of the eye.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Participation in the commencement ceremony is voluntary and a privilege. If you choose to participate in the ceremony, you are expected to abide by all the requirements outlined here. You may choose not to attend the ceremony and instead pick up your diploma the following week in the school’s counseling office. The honor of participating in graduation is a culminating celebration of your hard work and ambition. Our hope is that each graduate recognizes the gravity of their actions and doesn't risk losing their opportunity to join their classmates on May 21. These expectations will be reviewed again at commencement rehearsal on May 19.
-
Senior pranks of any kind are strictly prohibited, regardless of the intent or nature. Any student who is involved in any senior pranks from now until graduation will lose their privilege of participating in the ceremony, and their diploma will be mailed to their primary address in Infinite Campus.
-
Students are expected to act appropriately in accordance with school policy.
-
Students and families are asked to maintain the dignity of the ceremony out of respect for all who attend. Major disruptions may result in cessation of the remainder of the ceremony.
-
NO alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises. Individuals who are deemed intoxicated will be asked to leave. BVSD Security and City of Boulder Police Officers will be on site.
-
All school procedures and policies will be in effect throughout the graduation ceremony.
parking for Graduation
Parking will be limited--make sure you give yourself enough time to find parking and get to the field. We encourage families to plan ahead and either carpool or use other forms of transportation. Limited parking will be available in the 15th and 17th street lots at Boulder High. Parking is also available in the surrounding neighborhoods. Please plan accordingly.
Special Parking Information
There are only a limited number of accessible parking spots to Boulder High graduates and their families for the May 20, 2023, ceremony. To enter the accessible lot, you are required to have a special parking permit issued by Boulder High and to display this permit on your dashboard. To reserve an accessible parking spot, please contact Lily Haynes at lily.haynes@bvsd.org or 720-561-2296 or fill out this form: Graduation Special Parking. To ensure you receive a spot, please make your request as soon as possible.
There will be seating for families on the North and South sides of Recht Field. There will also be a section of accessible seating in the stadium. If you or a family member needs one of these seats, please contact Lily Haynes. Due to the limited accessible seating, we ask that only one family member sit in this area if the person requires assistance. For those who need it, transportation will be available from the accessible parking lot to the accessible seating area.
